Organizational & Study Skills for the Middle Schooler

Doesn't every student want to spend less time studying and more time doing things they enjoy? Our study skills class can make that dream a reality. Participants will learn how to use their school planners effectively, plan ahead to maximize study time, take organized notes and prepare for exams, writing assignments and major projects without cramming the night before. Students will need to bring their school planner to the first class.

Here are just a few of the topics we’ll be covering:

Planner 101
How to use a school planner effectively for something besides bathroom/locker passes and doodling

Work Smarter, Not Harder
Pro-Active studying tips & tricks to make hitting the books pay off and avoid cramming

Just the Facts
Note taking shortcuts & suggestions to save your hands for something important – like PSP or text messaging

Divide and Conquer
Tackling major projects and papers in small, manageable chunks instead of in one full swoop the night before

MLA What?
An overview of writing several different types of essays, including how to format bibliographies in the dreaded MLA format
