Summer Learning Loss Research

Forget about textbooks and worksheets! HISTORIA teaches students about history by having them experience it firsthand. HISTORIA begins in 1600 BCE and advances through different historical ages called epochs -- each of which represents hundreds of years of history. During each epoch, student groups make all the political and economic decisions for their growing civilization according to the type of government they have formed. In other words, after each group creates their own civilization, they, themselves, are responsible for guiding it through the long and complex history of the world, which encourages them to research, analyze and judge history from multiple perspectives-much like a trained historian would do. Their decisions will help shape the course of their people’s history!

With HISTORIA, students form friendships by building civilizations cooperatively and in so doing, become the architects of their own learning and understanding of the world around them.

HISTORIA makes history a game, so students learn lots and have fun doing it, too!
